Pie's Beach Foodz : )

Pie's Bump May 2014. (5.5) Months

Pregnancy Snacks on the Beach!

With Our Girl, Pie.

#1 - Pie's First Vanilla Bean Cupcake @the Beach in utero.

This is her first beach cupcake! Ordinarily, I would not recommend store-bought cupcakes, but it was Mother's Day and These were just the best. I mean.. look at all those freaking vanilla beans. Mmmm, Lol, could probably eat one right now. Pie, unlike her Momzie - LOVES sweets. Personally, they aren't usually my thing, but she craves them constantly. Oh, pregnancy, how we <3 thee.

Recipe #1

One store-bought cupcake of your choosing.

Playalinda 13 - Cape Canaveral National Sea Shore

Pie-Pie Treat #2

 Meatloaf Pita Sandwich

Pie has been wanting pretty much everything in a pita, lol.. Not sure why... except that she does. The regular bread around here is going to waste because she just doesn't feel like damn sandwiches. So this is a pretty easy beach snack to make -

Recipe: Add leftover Meatloaf to a pita + Onions and Tomatoes

Pie's Beach Bump - 5 3/4 w Kitty Ear's Hand

Pie Treat #3

Snack #3  - Mason Jar Fruit Salad
Snack #3  - Recipe - 1 can grapefruit, 1 can apricots, 4 sliced strawberries

Yumm - Pie, really liked this one! We kind of broke the beach rules with the Mason Jar, but we're a little bit bad now, aren't we, lol. It's all good to take cookies or a cupcake to the beach when you're preggers - God Knows, DO NOT GET IN THE MIDDLE OF A PREGNANT GIRL AND HER FOOD. - but suggesting a healthier alternative like a homemade fruit salad with honey might score some points too.

Recipe: 1 Can Apricot Halves in light syrup (drained), 1 Can Pink Grapefruit Sections (no syrup), Handful of Fresh Frozen Strawberries, 2 Tablespoons Honey. Mix & Place in cooler near the ice. Make sure to remember silverware, because it is SUCH  a hassle to reach into a jar on the beach with sandy fingers.

Pie Note - Dearest Pie Darling -
Being pregnant with you has been the greatest adventure of my life so far. Every day I love you more and more. One day when you ask what Mom did while pregnant with you I will tell you everything. After I was done with a majority of the sickness (another story, lol) we started taking you to the beach every day. The ocean really made you peaceful. We would lay on the beach with our hand on your Bump and wonder who you're going to be in life. No matter what it is, I will love you - cherish you - and support you.

Where Pie-In-Utero spent most of her days.

Pie Snack #4

Double Fudge Chocolate Cookie

Yummmm!!!!!!
You can bring all sorts of beachable snacks that are easy to eat, easy to pack, and easy to prepare. No recipe for this one, lol. Buy the most scrumptious store bought cookie you can find. : )

Kitty Ear's Feet and the Beach - May 2014

Mommy and a Pita upside Down

We've been bringing the Pie Bump to the beach for awhile now and we love her more and more every day. Pregnancy is hella challenging. Some days it's hard for me to walk down the boardwalk to the beach. Pie is growing more and more every day. We are going to try and keep taking her up til the very end. I so want her to have something to look back on one day and know how much she was loved and needed and wanted. She's my little surprise and even though we were a little scared about her arrival we have decided to keep her, love her, and take every day one at a time.

Now, more snacks!

A note on hunger and the end of the 2nd - beginning of the 3rd Trimester Note:
Even though we still get some morning sickness (which for us is all day sickness) we are managing well with our current pregnancy plan. We are super hungry even if we are throwuppy lol..

Some things Pie craves are:
Lemonade
Chik-Fil-A
Casseroles
Mexican Food
Milk Shakes
Ice Cream
Pickles
Southern Comfort Foods
Coffee
Lots of H20

Pie Snack #5

Scooby Doo Cereal
A note about Scooby Doo Cereal - It tastes like utter CRIZZNAP unless you don't add milk, then it can be a pretty tasty and nutritious snack. This cereal is WIC approved so it has to be a little healthy, right? Lol.. and who cares about portion sizes when you are preggers, and it takes all you have to waddle your ass down to the beach in the first place. I swear by the fact that just walking the boardwalk and setting up our beach blankets is adequate exercise for a person who rarely exercised BEFORE pregnancy.

We have actually had a low-weight pregnancy where I am not gaining the weight that I need, so Dr's told me to eat six small meals a day and not worry too much about a little extra (in the serving department) and a little extra sugar (since I hardly eat sweet things). - Pie, has a sweet tooth and wants me to eat sweet stuff ALL the time, lol. That in itself has been a struggle, but we are fighting it with healthy choices as well.

Pie Snack #6

Jif Peanut Butter and Pear Jam on French Bread

We do PB&J an awful lot this pregnancy because A.It's freaking easy and B.We are craving really classic tastes!

Pie Snack #7

Walking Taco Pita
This is a really great recipe and SOOOO good on the sandy and salty beach!

Walking Taco Pita
1/2 Lb Ground Beef
1/2 an envelope Taco Seasoning
Diced Tomatoes
Diced Onions
Flax Pita

5.5 Month Bump with Daddy's Hand
Pie Note: Daddy and I feel you move every day and you are already so much a part of my life and my family. I look forward to meeting you so much, but like all new mother's I am honestly scared shitless. Sometimes I feel as if I want to keep you safe and inside forever. I know this isn't possible so we are trying to take things in stride and do this as well as possible. Need lots of help from the Universe because you do not come with an instruction manual. Of course there are many books out there... but nobody is really telling us how this goes. We spend massive amounts of time on the internet Googling everything we can although we have been instructed NOT TO DO THIS. Lol, we can't help it because we want to know everything about you and what is going on in your little safe shell.

Daddy's Coconut he found at Playalinda Beach on Cape Canaveral National Sea Shore.

Pie Snack #7

Snack 7: Forbidden Fruity Pebbles

Fruity Pebbles Note - Lol, I'm not supposed to eat Fruity Pebbles while I'm pregnant because of all the dyes and unnatural stuff in them.. But sometimes the bump wants what she wants. I personally do not like a lot of sugar - well.. Little Miss Pie Pie won't have it. She wants sugar 24/7 and I try to keep it in check, but sometimes... ICGAF!

Pie Snack #8 - Peanut Butter Sammich

We have been receiving a lot of Peanut Butter from a lot of places and let me tell you.. Pie loves peanut butter. It's just the most awesome thing.. It goes with everything and it's easy to eat.

Pie Note: My Dearest Baby Girl - Mommy has had hella morning sickness and heart burn this whole pregnancy! I love you more than life itself, however.. me and Daddy are taking bets on how much hair you will have then you come out. They say the more heart burn a person has then the more hair the baby will have. At this point we are expecting you to come out with a red fro (I'm even hoping for this as I think this would be HELLA kewt!)

Pie Snack #8 - Publix Potato Salad

Sometimes, you just want some Potato Salad! If you don't feel like making your own, Publix has a pretty good selection. They say you're not supposed to eat pre-made salads and deli meat when you're preggers because of listeria and salmonella but we're going to ignore this one too because they pretty much say that NOTHING is safe when you are pregnant. It's been my experience tho that you must pick your battles.

Pie Pie Note - Almost everything I have ever loved they have told me to give up for you to enter this world, Pie Bunny. And I've done alright for the most part.. - Mommy has given up: Alcohol (before the surprise of you Momz would get a little tipsy from time to time.. Just ask her friends), Coffee - No, Mommy didn't quit coffee altogether, but she did reduce it to one cup every two days which is murder, but better for you so it's worth it to me. Tea (Mommy used to drink nothing but un-sweet tea, coffee and water), Oysters (Mommy LOVES oysters and has broken down and eaten them steamed, which is deemed safe for fat pregnant ladies, hah), Artificial Colors - Mommy cut out Hawaiian Punch completely and tries to stay away from the Fruity Pebbles, Her Head Meds - About fifty times a day Mommy wishes she could eat her normal dose of Klonopin because the anxiety is just too much. but she wouldn't have it any other way.

These things are all worth it because you are precious. You have an un-perfect Mommy, but one who will do her best for you. Love you, Pie Pie.

Pie Snack #9 - Muller Strawberry Greek Yogurt

Muller Strawberry Greek Yogurt
This yogurt is simply the best, and it's good for you! We can't always be eating cookies and cupcakes at the beach, lol. One of our main criteria for the beach is that it needs be able to keep cool, taste good, and get as little sand in it as possible. These yogurts cover it all because they have their own little cute compartments. Love at first yogurt.

Pie Pie Snack #10 - Funyuns

Lol - Don't Judge the pregnant lady.

Pie Snack #11 - Deli Sandwich From Publix

Ham, Turkey, Olives, Onions, Mayo, Salt and Vinegar on Whole Wheat!
Even though this sandwich was purchased... It was oh so good! The deli at Publix will make you a FRESH sandwich for $3.89 which is cheaper than a lot of places for a 6inch sub. This absolutely hit the spot and couldn't have been a better sandwich!

Sparkly Baby Bump with Fishing Pole - 5/34 Months

Pie loves the sound of the waves.

Pie Snack #12 - Buttery Croissant

Pie can't get enough carbs these days! And Croissants are her favorite.

I could not ask for a more scenic pregnancy while pregnant with my little love.

The views at Cape Canaveral are just the best. Mommy take Pie on beach strolls and she loves the beating of the waves.

Pie Pie Snack #13 - Fruit Salad

You can tell by how I destroyed this fruit salad how good it was! I can't even stress to you how awesome fruit salads are the beach. Super cold, nice and sweet and healthy. Gives Pie her sugar fix without Momzi going into a diabetic coma.

Recipe - 1 slice honeydew (chunked)
1 slice cantaloupe (chunked)
1 handful of raspberries
1 tablespoon Honey Drizzle

Pie's Beach Snack #14

Homemade Chicken Salad on a Hoagie Bun with Provolone

Recipe: 1 chicken breast, 1/2 cup mayo, 1/4 cup onion, 1/4 red peppers, 2 tablespoons horseradish mustard, salt + pepper, hoagie roll, 1 slice provolone.

Kitty Ears made Momma and Pie Chicken Salad Sandwiches. My Mom's Chicken Salad secret was to add a 1/2 teaspoon of crab boil and extra pepper. I would give anything for Mom to come and make some chicken salad for me right now.

Pie Note: Pie, you will never know your Grandma Janet and it saddens me every day to no end. She was the best person I have ever met and I'm sure she would have been such an asset to your life. She was my rock and my saving grace.
Sometimes, in this life - Pie, the MOST important people are taken from you and you have to find a way to live and to live without them. The most important lesson my Mom taught me was to be humble. Everything in life falls in to place if you practice just a little humility. And these are the most important lessons in life. I'll do my best to give you the best of her, the parts that I treasure.

I lived a half life for a long time because I missed your Grandma so much, but with your arrival I have picked myself up and decided to start again. Your Grandma is smiling down on us from Heaven and I know she is just beaming with love for you, like the rest of us sweet Bean.
Pie Pie

Pie Beach Snack #15 - Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies

It is such a blessing to be able to cultivate my little bump at the beach. I think about people who live in far less majestic settings, or circumstances for that matter and I wish that all pregnant mothers could have our pregnancy experience. Yes, it's been tough with the sickness and various things, but having little Pie will make it all worth it in the end. And who can really bitch about getting to sit on the beach and eat cookies while you're pregnant?
